Description
Symploce pallens
Feeding recommendation:For smaller colonies, the prey can be offered freshly chopped or frozen, but even in those cases it’s recommended to cut it into pieces so the ants can more easily access the soft, nutrient-rich inner parts.
For mature colonies, it can be offered alive, but only if they are capable of handling it. Keep in mind that live feeding can be a source of stress for more sensitive species—not all ants are able to hunt, and less agile species may struggle if the prey escapes by climbing onto decorations or walls, etc.
Storage:
Turkestan cockroaches are hardy and have a long shelf life, but they gradually lose nutritional value over time. If you don’t plan to keep and feed them until use, you can freeze the excess.
While it’s unlikely that they would establish a population, it’s best to handle them with care during feeding to avoid escape.
