Description
This is the only native ant species in our country. It’s recommended for beginners, easy to keep and claustral species. Multiple queens can establish a colony together, so they are polygynous. According to our experience, maximum 4-5 queens can cooperate well in a colony. In cases with multiple queens, internal conflicts may appear, but a colony functions perfectly with a single queen as well. Both queens and workers are shiny black, occasionally with red or yellow patterns above the mouth of the largest major workers. They make their nest into the soil, usually under larger stones, where they create several larger chambers for themselves. They prefer warm, sunny, open habitats.
Similar to other Messor species, this species is seed collector. They store various seeds in their tunnels and and chambers. They tolerate dry conditions well, keep their environment clean, that makes them an ideal species for any ant farms. They can be kept in relatively dry environments, with a few watering spots, to prevent the appearance of mites. Messors accumulate their waste, usually in the warmest and driest corner of their enclosure. They are polymorphic, with three different-sized worker castes (minor, media, major). Majors are strong and robust, can move harder seeds, and hunt for prey. Minors are small and assist in raising brood and do other tasks around the nest. Their stingers are undeveloped and not harmful to humans, they usually neutralize their prey with their strong mandibles. They are not particularly aggressive but highly territorial, they do not tolerate any other insects in their territory. Keep them under stable lighting conditions, and protect them from vibrations, because they are sensitive to it, and it can stress. It’s an active species, we can see them doing something in the formicarium all time. They are exciting to observe. Workers mainly look for food at ground level. The expected lifespan of the queen can reach up to 20-25 years.
Food: Seeds (seed mix + oily seeds: walnut or peanut) and insects.
Reproduction: They reproduce rapidly in warm conditions. In the first year, they may raise 40-70 workers, and by the second year the number of workers may a few hundred. A mature colony can have several thousand workers. The offspring develop without pupa, so the pupal form is white and ant-shaped.

1 hónapja jöttek kb. 35 fővel! Monstanra már 60-an vannak. Nagyon tiszták és rendezettek. A majorok elképesztőek! Nagyon ijedősek, minden rezgésre vagy egy hangosabb beszélgetésre. 10-20 fővel vettem meg kb. 5 hónapja, nagyon tisztaság kedvelő faj. Nagyon gyorsan szaporodnak, szóval nem kell várakozni. Látványos, ahogy rámennek a lisztkukacra, a major egyből beszokta vinni a kémcsőbe a királynő mellé (ez van a magokkal is). A formikárium berendezéseit nagyon szeretik, mindenképp rendezzétek be ti is. Minden egyes hangra felriadnak, de attól még semmi bajuk nincs, mert az utcán a föld alatt is hallják, ha valami vagy valaki hangos, nem kell ettől megijedni. Most azt várom, hogy kiköltözzenek a kémcsőből a fészekbe. Az Antsite a legjobb hangyaweb a világon, megbízhatók és jól magyaráznak! Érdemes feliratkozni!🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜😃😃😃😃😃

Április 8-án vettem át első kolóniaként egy királynőt hat dolgozóval. Azóta számuk kb. 40-50-re emelkedett. Két major is van már, további major-lárvákkal és bábokkal (plusz további fiasítás). Nagyon könnyen tartható faj, és ahogy előttem is írták, valóban könnyen felbolydulnak minden (akár apró) rezgésre, a fény viszont hidegen hagyja őket. Ajánlom a fajt minden (magamfajta) kezdőnek, az Antsite-ot meg mindenkinek, aki szeretne hangyákkal foglalkozni.

Nekem kb egy ève vannak meg 5-10 dolgozóval jöttek most kb 50-60 dolgozóvan ès köztük 2db szuper major.Nagyon könnyen tartható faj.Minden kezdőnek ajánlom!Az antsite nagyon segítő kèsz.☺

nagyon aranyos hangyák mindenkinek tudom javasolni aki olyan hangyákat szeretne látni akik gyorsan szaporodnak és nagyon nagy hangyakolómiát akar. nem kel nekik nagyon párás fészek de enni azt nagyon tudnak. 3dr királynővel hatalmas és gyorsan szaporodó koloniát lehet kinevelni ( és nagyon jó nézni ahogy harcolnak a prédával , meg ahogy a magokat gyülytögetik xd )

Másfél hete érkezett meg a királynő pár làrvàval és bábbal . Arra pár nappal bebarnult két báb.Ki is keltek.Mostanra már 8-9-en vannak.Eddigi tapasztalataim szerint nagyon könnyen tartható faj. Mindig buzgólkodnak valamin.

KB 5 hónapja vettük ezt a fajt 0 dolgozóval, azóta jócskán elszaporodtak ahhoz képest hogy csak egy királynővel vettük mostanra már formicárium ban vannak és nagyon szeretem őket. Valószínűleg ha az Antsite nem létezne akkor soha se tudom meg hogy mien élményekkel teli lehet ezt h hangyafajt tartani.UI Ez volt életem első hangyafaja 🥇
