Description
This is a popular South African ant species. In English-speaking regions, they are called “fluffy ants” due to their 3-5 mm workers, which are covered with soft hairs. The mature colony only reaches a few hundred workers, so there’s no need to worry about them growing too large. This is a gentle, peacefull ant species, and some sources suggest they can be kept alongside other similarly gentle species.
Feeding: Honey and insects.
Reproduction: A mature colony consists of a few hundred workers.
Hibernating: As a tropical ant species, they do not require hibernating.
