Description
This is a large, bright reddish, double node, stinging ant species. This species is semi-claustral, that means the queen requires feeding even during the early stages. It is primarily monogynous (single-queen), but can secondarily become polygynous (multi-queen), with older colonies potentially supporting multiple queens. In our country, this ant species is rare and can only be found in higher mountainous areas above 500 meters in altitude. They are active hunters, capable of taking down larger insects with their sting and venom, although their sting is not harmful to humans.
Feeding: Primarily insects, and honey.
Reproduction: This is a large species with a slow reproduction rate, requiring 8-12 weeks from egg to mature worker. A mature colony consists of thousands of workers. Offspring develop without a cocoon stage, so the pupae are white and ant-shaped.
Hibernation: At 5-8°C, from late November to the end of March.

A királynőmet kb 2 hónapja rendeltem és 5 dolgozóig simán eljutott de utána meghalt, tervezek egy új királynőt rendelni mert ez egy nagyon különleges faj.
