Camponotus vestitus

Description

This monogynous and claustral ant species comes from Afrika. They dig their nest into the soil, they tolerate well dry habitats also. They are characteristically elongated ants, they have red heads, black bodies with shiny abdomen. Workers are polymorf, have three worker castes (minor, media, major). The number of the mature colony reaches only a few hundred, no need to be afraid of overgrowing. The queen’s lifespan can reach up to 10-15 years!

Feeding: Honey and insects.

Reproduction: The colony grows slowly initially, they raise 10-20 workers in the first year, by the third year the number of the colony can reach up to 100 workers.

Hibernating: Tropical species, does not require wintering.
